Abstract

1,185,257. Injection moulding footwear. FRANK NOONE SHOE CO. Inc. 19 April, 1968, No. 18500/68. Heading B5A. [Also in Division A3] A method of making a golf shoe includes the steps of positively locating a plurality of sockets 14 for studs (not shown) in a mould, closing the mould with the lasted upper and injecting polyvinyl chloride or similar plastics material into the mould cavity to form an outsole 13 with the sockets 14 embedded therein. The sockets 14 may be located by pins 24 alone or, as shown, by pins 24 and a steel pattern plate 15 which carries the sockets 14 and which is also embedded in the outsole 13. The pins 24 are carried by members 23 which form recesses 17 in the sole bottom. The steel plate 15 may be magnetized so that it will be held in position when presented to a steel mould. The injected material overlaps the plate 15 in a band 16 and the plate 15 is provided with a recess (Fig. 2) which increases the bond between the injected material and the shoe bottom.
