Abstract

1,243,256. Boots &c. E. T. WRIGHT & CO., Inc. 29 Oct., 1968 [6 March, 1968], No. 51243/68. Heading A3B. A shoe, e.g. a golf shoe, having a sole b injection moulded from an elastomer has embedded in the sole b plates 14, 16 on which are fixed studs 10, the studs projecting from the bottom of the sole b. The sole b may be moulded from polyurethane and the plates 14, 16 and studs 10 are made from an elastomer which is compatable with the elastomer of the sole b. Each stud 10 consists of a head 22 having an annular groove 28, a shank 26 and a pin 24 which is inserted in a hole 18 in the plate 14 or 16. The plates 14, 16 and studs 10 may be joined by vulcanization and the tip of the stud 10 may include a wear-resistant insert 48. The sole is made by placing the plates and studs in a mould 32 with the tips of the studs 10 seated in recesses 42 in the bottom plate 36 of the mould. Elastomeric material is then injected through channel 44 to form the sole. The sole may be moulded directly on to the shoe bottom or may be moulded separately.
