Abstract
1,017,321. Injection moulding footwear. I. & C. A. SCHNEIDER G.m.b.H. April 2, 1964 [April 2, 1963], No. 13708/64. Heading B5A. [Also in Division A3] A shoe has a sole edge 6 injection moulded on to the lasted upper 3 and has an outer sole 14 (Fig. 2, not shown), injection moulded on to the shoe bottom, the material of the sole edge differing from that of the outer sole. The mould consists of a two-part side frame 1 and a movable bottom die 5 which in its first position (Fig. 1) defines the mould cavity for the sole edge 6 and heel surround 7, 9 which is injected through a duct 11. The bottom die 5 is then dropped to its second position (Fig. 2, not shown), where it defines the mould cavity for the tread sole 14 which is injected along ducts 12, 13 which register with the duct 15 when the bottom die is in its second position. The shoe includes a filler sole 8, e.g. of felt and heel block 10 which, during the moulding of the sole edge 6, are pressed against the bottom die to prevent the mouldable material of the sole edge entering the ducts 12, 13. In a second embodiment (Fig. 4, not shown), the shank region is moulded during the first stage and is defined by a fixed die 16 and the outer sole is moulded in two parts 14<SP>1</SP>, 14<SP>11</SP>.
