Abstract

[Also in Division E1] In apparatus for spreading loose material, such as concrete over a surface such as a road bed, a spreader conveyer 6 is mounted on a carrier 4 such that the conveyer can swing from side to side about its input end as the carriage advances. The input end of the conveyer 6 has a hopper 50 and is mounted on a wheeled trolley 40 having fore-and-aft movement on a turntable 36 mounted on the carriage 14; the other end of the conveyer being supported by a reciprocating stirrup from a gantry 18. Concrete from a mixer lorry 60 is fed to a hopper 64 and cantilever conveyer 54 and thence to the hopper 52. The conveyer 54 is mounted on a separate vehicle 8 having power means 10 for the actuation of conveyer, gantry and forward drive motors of the carriage 14.
