113,178. Cowey, L. E. April 3, 1917. Odometers for motor-vehicles &c. A counter D is driven by a bevel-wheel d adapted to engage with either of a pair of bevel-wheels c, c<1> mounted on a floating shaft C driven by worm-gearing E, F. When the direction of rotation of the driving-shaft B is reversed, the shaft C moves axially, so that the wheel d is driven in the same direction as before. A pawl h<3>, operated by an eccentric h<1> driven from the shaft C, turns a, toothed ring J which carries a pointer moving over a dial indicating the daily mileage. The ring J is adapted to be set at zero by a hand-operated toothed wheel L engaging external teeth j on the ring J. The shaft B may also drive a speed indicator of the kind described in Specification 109,160.
