Abstract
1,131,124. Plate heat exchangers. SERCK RADIATORS Ltd. 7 Feb., 1967 [10 Feb., 1966], No. 5843/66. Heading F4S. In a plate heat exchanger comprising a stack of plates 10 spaced apart by marginal seals providing flow spaces between adjacent plates, the edge of each plate is similarly marked, e.g. by painting, notching or chamfering, whereby stacking of the plates in a predetermined order or orientation is facilitated. Such order may, for example, in a stack of identical, rectangular plates, require that alternate plates are reversed end for end as shown in Fig. 1, where each plate is marked at one end thereof by a narrow band 11 of paint or similar material and by a wide band 12 at the other end or alternatively the bands 11 and 12 may be of different colours to distinguish them from one another. In another example where two different types of plate alternate in the stack (Fig. 4) a single but distinctive mark is applied to each type of plate. Where the stack includes a number of special plates, these may also be marked to distinguish them from the other plates. Examples of plates marked by notching and chamfering are illustrated (Figs. 2 and 3, not shown).
