Abstract

1,128,781. Furniture frames. A. HILFIKER. 19 May, 1966 [19 May, 1965], No. 22417/66. Headings A4H and A4J. The frame of a chair, couch, or double divan comprises two or more main carriers 6 comprising elongated plates 3 angularly adjustably connected together at their ends and tubular cross members 4 extending between the carriers. The ends of the elongated plates 3 are connected together by screws 5 passed through holes in the plates and screwed into the ends of the tubular cross members 4. The contacting ends of the plates 3 are toothed. Cushions 2 forming a back and seat comprise foam plastics material attached either to wooden boards or to aluminium castings (16) having grooves (17) in their longitudinal edges engaged by the cross members 4. If the frame comprises three or more main carriers 6 a headless screw (21, Fig. 8) is used to connect each pair of aligned cross members 4 to the inner main carriers.
