1438493 Furniture frames; chairs I SINCLAIR 28 June 1973 [14 August 1972] 37798/72 Headings A4H and A4J An article of furniture, such as a chair, settee, stool, table, comprises a plurality of elements 10, 12 clamped together in parallel planes in side-byside relationship to provide a continuous support surface 20, and clamping means 26 clamping the elements together, the elements comprising unitary, like elements 10 clamped between two further elements 12 including integrally formed leg portions 22. The further elements 12 are h-shaped and the intermediate elements 10 are L-shaped, all the elements 10, 12 being of I-section with continuous flanges. The clamping means comprise threaded bolts 26 inserted through aligned apertures (24) in the elements and tightened by nuts. When the article is a settee, it may include a third intermediate h-shaped element. The elements comprise plastics, metal, or wood.
