Abstract

1,123,783. Containers; stoppers. METAL BOX CO. Ltd. 17 June, 1966 [19 Oct., 1965], No. 44288/65. Headings BSD and B8T. A plastics tubular neck or stopper for a container end, is formed with corrugations 9 in the base 1 of a peripheral groove, which corrugations interengage with corresponding corrugations 12 on an opening-defining flange 6 in the container end to prevent relative rotation of the neck and container, and the sides 2, 3, of which groove abut the upper surface of the flange 6, or a rib 15 formed therein, and the inner edge of the flange respectively. The corrugations (9), Fig. 7, (not shown), may extend only part way across the groove base (1). The neck may be formed with a rupturable diaphragm 11, and screw threads 10 to receive a screw cap. Again, the neck may receive a snap-on or plug-in closure, or may be fitted with a closure rotatable relative to the neck to enable dispensing of the container contents. The container may be formed of metal, cardboard, or plastics.
