Abstract

901,615. Containers; container closures; boxes. HEDWIN CORPORATION. Feb. 11, 1960 [July 30, 1959], No. 4839/60. Classes 18, 66 and 125(3) A container formed of a flexible thermoplastic material, e.g. polyethylene, has a retractable spout comprising a web portion 30, a cylindrical neck 32 and a member 34 fitting within the neck 32, a tab 42 being provided on a ring 44 by means of which the spout may be pulled out, flanges . 36 on the member 34 causing the neck 32 to reverse itself. A screw closure 38 is fitted to the spout; and the member 34 has ribs 40 to prevent its rotation in the neck 32. In modifications, a closure plug 50, Fig. 7, replaces the member 34 and cap 38, the upper end of the plug having a finger-grip recess 54 ; or, Fig. 8, the central part of the bottom of a plug has an upward nipple the top of which is cut off before dispensing the container contents. As shown in Fig. 15 the member 34 is divided by a rib 83 into two areas 84, 85, the rib acting on the neck portion, as it is pulled out, to double it back so that in its extended position it encloses the area 85, Fig. 16 (not shown). The container may be inserted in a carton, Fig. 14 (not shown), the inner flap covers of which have registering semi-circular cut-out portions one of the outer flaps having a perforated portion to provide access to the spout and the outer and inner flaps being glued together. Either of the body halves 22, 24 of the container may be collapsed into the other half. Specifications 863,024 and 872,065 are referred to.
