Abstract
1,122,606. Caps for bott'es. ART ON INDUSTRIES Inc. 2 Doc., 1966 [2 Dec., 1965], No. 54120/66. Heading B8T. A tamper-proof screw cap 5, Fig. 1, for a plastics bottle, &c. 1 comprises an internally threaded closure member 9 carrying rotatably an intermediate sleeve 10 (see also Fig. 6), on which is rotatable and axially slidable an outer operating knob 17 (see also Fig. 7), with clutch dogs, &c. 25-27 interengageable so that the knob can be turned to unscrew the closure. Lifting the knob 17 to the Fig. 1 position causes lip edge surfaces 23 at the bottom of the knob to slide over cams 33 on the intermediate sleeve 10, which is accordingly turned on the closure 9 to misalign the clutch recesses 25, 26 and prevent re-engagement of the clutch dogs, &c. Thus unscrewing of the bottle cap is prevented until the intermediate sleeve 10 has been turned back to re-align the clutch recesses 25, 26 when the knob 16 can be simultaneously pushed down and rotated to slide the clutch dogs 27 again into the recesses. Re-alignment of the clutch dogs, &c. 25-27 is facilitated by index marks (28, 30), Fig. 2 (not shown), on the enclosure 9 and knob 17, and a view hole (29) through the intermediate sleeve, the knob and sleeve being turned till all three are vertically above each other.
