Abstract

1111612 Atomizing liquid fuel SIMMS GROUP RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT Ltd 11 March 1965 [11 Dec 1963] 48991/63 Headings H4J J7E and J5K2 [Also in Division H2] Liquid fuel is atomized at the tip of a member 21 which is vibrated at ultrasonic frequency by an annular crystal 11 fed from an electric generator 13. The member 21 is the small cross-section member of a velocity transformer 18. The crystal 11 is clamped between a glass insulator 16 and the large cross-section member 19 of the velocity transformer. A pump 31 supplies liquid fuel to a conduit 26 leading to a conduit 25 disposed axially of the small cross-section member 21. The liquid emerges through holes in the cone-shaped end of the small cross-section member 21 or through holes in the cylindrical face of the member.
