Abstract

880,454. Electromagnetic interaction pumps. UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY. May 12, 1960 [May 20, 1959], No. 17230/59. Class 35. Cavitation in linear travelling field type interaction pump is avoided by tapering the liquid duct in the direction of flow. As shown for a flat type, one duct wall 6 is curved to produce the taper. If desired, the other wall 7 may also be curved. Thermal insulation 8 is provided. The principle may also be applied to an annular type of pump (Fig. 2, not shown).
