Abstract
<PICT:1105988/C6-C7/1> A razor or other thin, sharp-edged, blade is made from an alloy comprising:- <TABS:1105988/C6-C7/1> the balance, apart from impurities, being iron and has a cutting edge hardness above V.P.N. 700. The contents of alloying elements are so proportioned that Cr + Mo + Nb + Ta + Ti + V + Zr + <FORM:1105988/C6-C7/1> and the carbon and chromium contents are within the area ABCDEA of the drawing. The steel may be cold rolled in strip form heated to 1000 DEG -1150 DEG C., cooled (e.g. to -20 DEG to -120 DEG C.) and then tempered at 100 DEG -600 DEG C. in one or more stages.
