Abstract

1,094,169. Marine jet propulsion. TWIN DISC CLUTCH CO. Sept. 29, 1966 [Oct. 13, 1965], No. 43629/66. Heading B7V. [Also in Division F1] In a multi-stage marine hydraulic jet propulsion unit U, a first stage impeller 10 fixed to the drive sleeve 8 is driven by drive shaft 6 through gear reduction unit 7 and a second stage impeller 14 coaxially mounted aft of the first stage impeller 10 and fixed to the driveshaft 6 rotates faster than the first stage impeller. The housing H closely surrounds and complements the peripheral shape of the impellers and stator blades 14, 15 are fixed within the housing respectively between the impellers and aft of the second stage impeller to straighten out the flow of water.
