Abstract

1,093,212. Valved bags; filling bags. THERMOPLASTIC INDUSTRIES Inc. Jan. 12, 1965 [Nov. 27, 1964], No. 1424/65. Heading B8C, B8K. A valve sleeve 18, Figs. 1 and 2, comprising two panels of plastics material having different temperature setting characteristics sealed together at 30 is bonded at 20 to the inner face of the bag wall so that a slit 22 in the bag wall is in register with a corresponding slit in one panel of the valve sleeve. The bag 10 may be formed from gussetted multi-flly thermoplastic tubing with perforations in the plies to permit entrained air to escape from the bag, the perforations in one ply being offset from those in another ply. The valve opening may be sealed by a pressure sensitive adhesive flap 82 Fig. 9, provided with a protective covering 84. The covering 84 may be stripped by a tab 86. A gussetted valve sleeve 48, Fig. 10, sealed to the bag wall at 54, 56 may be inserted in a rigid container having an opening corresponding to the opening 58 in the bag. The bags may be connected end-to-end by perforated tear lines 90 (Fig. 15) and wrapped into a roll. Several bags may be filled simultaneously by nozzles 96 in a filling unit 94.
