Abstract

997,719. Plastics pouches. McFARLANE & BURNS PROPRIETARY Ltd. Aug. 14, 1962 [Aug. 18, 1961], No. 31153/62. Heading B8K. [Also in Division G5] Material such as printing ink or coating material is applied to an unexposed surface of a double layered portion of a pouch formed from a single thermoplastic sheet. As shown, the printing is applied to the thermoplastic sheet at 9 (Fig. 1), by a reverse printing process, the sheet 10 is folded over and subsequently the area 11 is folded to form a sealing lip (Fig. 5). One-third of this doubled sheet is soldered upon itself and finally the edges 12, 13 are heat-sealed. The pouches may be made in a continuous strip which is severed during or after the sealing. In the double-layered area the bag wall may consist of a thick opaque sheet with a thin transparent sheet covering.
