Divisions E2, F1, F2] A device for adjusting a tappet screw of an I.C. engine, the said tappet screw carrying a lock-nut 24, comprises a cylindrical barrel 10 having a squared open end engaging one end (18) of an extension socket spanner, the other end (19) of the socket spanner being shaped for rotating the lock-nut 24, a screwdriver rotatably mounted in the barrel. with its handle 12 projecting therefrom and a helical spring 15 housed within the barrel 10 for forcing the screwdriver blade into engagement with. the screw. The socket spanner or the barrel may be provided with an outwardly extending lever for applying a larger torque to the lock-nut. The device is attached to the lock-nut by a spring loaded clamp comprising two arms 27, 32. A modified clamp, Fig. 9 (not shown), comprises a spring (37) having V-shaped portions which pass through oppositely arranged slots in the socket and register with an annular groove in the periphery of the nut.
