Abstract

The variable torque spanner has an elongated cylindrical element (8) with a terminal socket, and a perpendicular counter-weighted (7) lever arm (6). This lever arm slides axially on the cylinder (8), and the counterweight (7) slides w.r.t. the lever (6) arm, all elements being lockable in desired stations by radial screws (13, 14). The end of the cylinder is socketed to receive a cranked handle extension and pref. the socketed head receives a hexagonal hub which in turn receives the socket spanner head. A cruciform sleeve assembly (4, 5) links the spanner (8) to the lever arm (7) and pref. opposed lugs (15, 19) lock the spanner against rotation.
