Abstract

Heading B4W A spanner comprises a head 1 having an opening 3 for a nut, and a handle 2 pivotally connected at 8 to the head 1, the handle having at its connected end a nose 9 having a flat outer end and a stop 10 angularly spaced apart, the nose projecting through a gap in head and partly across the opening 3 when the handle is pivoted in one direction. The lug 10 forms a stop which prevents pivotal movement when the handle is pivoted in the other direction, the arrangement being such that a nut encircled by the head can be tightened by oscillating the handle. The peripheral wall of the opening 3 forms a complete circle. In a modification, Fig. 5 (not shown), the opening in the head extends through less than a complete circle so as to provide a slot through which the head may be applied sideways to a nut. The spanner may be made of phosphor bronze.
