Abstract

1,080,742. Composite beams. RIGID FRAME CONSTRUCTION Ltd. June 1, 1965 [June 5, 1964], No. 23320/64. Headings E1K and E1W. Beams comprise plates 2 connected to opposite sides of the chords 1 alternately along their length the plates 2 having transverse flanges 6 fitting between the chords. Stanchions are made of two or three such units at right angles resulting in an L or T cross-section. The chords are of wood or may be channels which may contain wooden inserts. The ends of the units are closed by transverse channels. Building frameworks constructed of such units are described with reference to Figs. 6, 8 and 9 (not shown). The beam may be of plastics.
