A girder comprises coplanar plates 1, 2 connected by a zig-zag web 3 and angle members 4 - 7 detachably attached to one or both of the plates to form the flanges. The web 3 may be a bent bar or the plates 1, 2 and the web 3 may be stamped from, a single plate. Wooden strips 8 may be secured to one or both flanges.
