A box girder comprises a part 1, 2 of inverted U section in the top of which is a trapezoidal member 3 welded at the top 7, 8 and at its lower edges 9, 10 to the part 1, 2 and a tension plate 4 or rods connect the edges 9, 10 together. The bottom of the girder is closed by a plate 11. A rail 5 is welded to the top of the girder. Specification 942,233 is referred to.
