Abstract

569,892. Beams, pillars etc.; windows. HAY, H. M. Aug. 11, 1943, No. 12969. [Classes 20 (iii) and 20 (iv)] Beams or pillars for supporting boards are builtup of metal strips a spaced apart at intervals by wooden, fibre or like non-resonant blocks b. Bolts or wood screws secure the strips to the blocks. The strips may be channelled, with the flanges embracing the blocks, or engaged in grooves. Boards may be secured to the pillars by screws, &c., passing through facing strips j with inturned edges or T-shaped to enter between ends of adjacent boards. Fig. 2 illustrates the provision of brackets e held by wood screws d and forming the framing for a pane of glass f. At their upper and lower ends pillars may be seated in strips l, k, attached to the ceiling and floor respectively. Brackets d may be secured to one of the strips a for retaining a glass pane f.
