In a hair clipper having a vibratory motor for reciprocating a blade 22 relatively to a comb blade 30, the blades when detached from the clipper frame 10 are in unitary assembly by means of separate clamping means which are disengaged automatically when the assembly is mounted on the clipper frame and which prevent relative movement between the blades when they are detached from the clipper frame. The blades have mounted thereon blocks 20, 36 of synthetic resin, the block 20 having posts 18 engageable by cups 16 of spring arms 14 of the motor armature 12 and having a recess 64 engageable by fingers 60, 62 at the front ends of detent levers 47, 48 pivoted at 50 on the block 36 and biased by a spring 54 having its ends coiled on the pivot 50. The clipper frame has a shoe 32 provided with a recess 34 engageable by a rib 38 at the rear end of the block 36 the front end of which is undercut at 40 to receive the hooks 42 of springs 44, the hooks being guided into undercut recesses by means of bevelled surfaces 46 on the block 36. The shoe 32 has a thrust surface 68 engageable by the rear ends 56, 58 of the levers 47, 48. When the blade assembly is engaged in the clipper frame, the surface 68 effects counterclockwise oscillation of the levers 47, 48 to lift the fingers 60, 62 from the recess 64, thus completely freeing the blade 22 from the detent levers. At the same time, the cups 16 engage the posts 18. Conversely, when the blade assembly is dis-. engaged from the clipper frame, the posts 18 are released from the cups 16 and the levers 47, 48 are released to allow them to be oscillated by their biasing spring 54 to engage the fingers 60, 62 in the recess 64 thereby holding the blade 22 to the blade 30.
