An electric shaver comprises a shaving head unit 12 which is releasably connected with a casing 19, oscillating cutters 15 in the unit 12 being driven from a motor 18 in the casing 19 through the intermediary of releasable drive means. The casing 19 contains means 70 for supplying a friction reducing agent which is dispensed by means 88 associated with the unit 12, the dispensing means 88 including a resilient member 100 which is releasably connected with a portion 113 of a conduit 112 leading from the supply means 70. The releasable connection between the unit 12 and the casing includes a tongue 104 and groove 105, the tongue being provided with opposed notches (109), Fig. 4 (not shown), engageable by a spring clamp 108 secured to the unit 12 to latch the unit to the casing. The cutters 15 are held in supports 26 secured to oscillating shafts 22, 23, each mounted in fixed resilient centring blocks 24, 25. The armature 46 of the motor 18 is pivoted at 48 and centred by springs 49. Cranks 22a, 23a on the shafts 22, 23 are driven from pins 51 on the armature 46 by means of a connecting rod 40 having apertures (52b), Fig. 12 (not shown), for releasably securing the cranks. The motor is controlled by a switch 62 which includes a magnetic reed element 63 and a manually slidable permanent magnet 64. The dispensing means 88 has a distribution channel 89 covered by a perforated plate 92 which is movable endwise from the channel 89. The means 88 has a tube 98 releasably engageable with the member 100 so that when the comb 13 is pivoted out of use, the tube 98 is separated from the member 100. The supply means 70 has an expansible reservoir 71 from which the friction reducing agent is dispensed by pump means 68 comprising a chamber (79), Fig. 7 (not shown), and a pair of check valves (81, 82). The shaver comprises a long-hair trimmer 37 including a comb 38 and a cutter 39 reciprocable from an offset part 23b of the shaft 23.
