Abstract

529,358. Dry shavers. YOUHOUSE, J. May 30 1939, No. 15934. Convention date, July 30, 1938 Class 131] A dry shaver comprises a sub-frame upon which is mounted the driving motor and the cutter, the subframe being enclosed by a handle casing composed of two or more parts. The subframe 20 has an integral collar at one end and a lug 40 secured to it at the other, the collar and lug being furnished with bearings for the armature shaft 37a, 37b of the motor, the U-shaped field magnet 56 of which is secured to the subframe by screws 61. The field coil 58 is provided as shown. The cutter head comprises a conical portion 66 which is secured to the subframe collar by a member 65 and the cutter blade 72 is removably clipped by a clip 81 to a shaft 75 driven from the armature shaft 37a. A spring 80 is provided to press the cutter blade against the guard plate 69. A two part casing 95, 96 is secured to the subframe 20 by screws 97, 98 and is held in position by a flanged ring 105 engaged by the cutter head member 65. A disc commutator 62 is mounted on the armature shaft 37a, brushes 63a being arranged longitudinally in respect to it. A switch 108, 109 is mounted at one end of the casing.
