[Class 35.] An electric motor for imparting vibratory movement to the blade of a safety razor comprises a driving shaft 1 attached to an iron core 12 having a winding 15 and.carrying three pole-pieces 16, spaced at 120‹, which co-operate with three similarly-spaced bars 19 of magnetic material. At the lower end of the core are three contact segments 17 connected to one end of the coil 15. A brush 20 presses on the segments and is connected to one pole of a low-voltage battery the other pole of which is connected to the other end of the coil 15 through the casing. The contact segments are arranged to energize the coil when the polepieces 16 are midway between the bars 19 and they cut off current when the polepieces underlie the bars. The razor blade is reciprocated by a threesided cam 2 mounted on the shaft 1 and the motor is arranged to deliver its maximum torque impulses just as the cam is about to move the blade.
