Abstract
440,532. Dynamo-electric machines. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London. March 6, 1935, No. 7076. Convention date, March 6, 1934. [Class 35] Machines with armatures moving longitudinally.-A rectilinear motor has the armature disposed between field magnet poles and the armature has series-connected coils arranged transversely to its length. In the form shown, the coils 8 are arranged as shown in Fig. 5 so that at any instant the current in the parts 9 of the coils transverse to the longitudinal axis of the armature flows in the same direction except at the armature ends and the coils are located in a casing 20 arranged between the poles 13, 14 of the wound U-shaped stator 12. The armature is connected to a sliding door 1 and may be supplied with alternating or continuous-current.
