Abstract
1,077,771. Domestic water tanks. HAWKHEAD BRAY & SON Ltd. May 5, 1965 [May 5, 1964], No. 18538/64. Heading E1T. A domestic water tank for hot water heated either by an external source, e.g. a boiler, or by an immersion heater, or both, has two fittings, 16 and 18, each comprising an externally threaded length of tubing 26, for connection, if desired, to the boiler, said fittings each having a blanking cap 28 (Fig. 2, not shown) screwed thereon when not in use, and having a cover plate 38 (Fig. 2), with a weakened central portion fixed thereover, the weakened portion of which can be removed when the fitting is to be used. The tank has an internal copper cylinder 10 spaced from the outer casing 12 by cork distance pieces, with the remaining space packed with granulated cork 14, except for a layer of glass fibre 15. Cold water inlet, 22, and outlet 24, pipes are provided, together with internally screwed bosses 20, (Fig. 3, not shown) for electric immersion heaters. Each fitting, 16 and 18, is arranged in a hole passing through the container wall, and is surrounded by cork rings 36 (Fig. 2, not shown) in contact with the cyinder 10, and spaced from the plate 38 by a heat insulating sleeve 34.
