Abstract

1,066,816. Valves. BARNES ENGINEERING (PTY.) Ltd. Sept. 18, 1964 [Nov. 11, 1963], No. 38273/64. Heading F2V. A tap suitable for dispensing beer comprises a closure member 27, e.g. of rubber, connected to a spindle 23 which passes through a fixed guide 20, a fixed cam member 31 having cam surfaces 41, 42 and a cap member 36, the spindle being connected to the latter by a clip 39. The cap member carries an operating handle 35 and cam followers 43, 44 which co-operate with the surfaces 41, 42 respectively. As shown, surface 42 has a higher peak than surface 41, and on rotating the handle through 90 degrees, in either direction, from the position shown, the followers move down the cam surfaces under the action of a spring 30 to cause the valve to close until follower 43 reaches its lowermost position, further rotation then being prevented since follower 43 cannot ascend surface 42.
