Abstract
1484884 Valves MCNEIL CORP 27 Nov 1974 [10 Dec 1973] 51465/74 Heading F2V In a dispensing gun a valve 11 is opened by means of a pivoted handle 13 which acts through safety means 15 to move a rod 25 attached to a spring-loaded valve closing member 21. The safety means, which constitutes a compression link between the end of the handle and an abutment 31 on the outer end of the rod, can be moved from an operative position, in which movement of the handle is transmitted to the rod, to a safety position in which movement is not transmitted. The safety means comprises a transfer member 49 having pins 53 which engage the handle and, in the operative position, a lower surface of a ring 57 the upper surface of which is in contact with the abutment 31. When the ring 57 is rotated about the rod 25 to the safety position the pins 53 move into grooves 67 in the lower surface of the ring so that movement is not transmitted to the rod. A stop 48 limits the movement of the handle.
