Abstract

[Also in Divisions G1 and H2] A snap-acting bimetal sheet-actuating member similar to that of Specification 657,434, but not carrying a contact, is provided with an abutment 9 on the bridge between the outer legs 3 overlying the free end of the tongue 2 to prevent the tongue 2 assuming its natural position in the cold condition to pre-stress the tongue 2 to determine the rising temperature at which the member operates. The bridge may be separate but permanently secured to the outer legs 3 with the abutment integral with the bridge or the bridge may be integral with the sheet and the abutment 9 integral with a plate 6 mounted on the bridge, plate 6 having mounting holes 7. Embodiments are described in which the actuating member operates a switch. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 657,434.
