Abstract

A sintered hard metal alloy comprises:-WC 65-80% TiC 10-25% <FORM:1061166/C6-C7/1> Co and or Ni balance optionally up to 6% of Fe may also be present. The average grain size of the carbides is less than 1.6 microns and the alloy is so produced that the phase content is as follows:-g 30-45% b 7.5-9.5% the remainder, apart from insignificant amounts of the eta phase or a Mo2C phase or both of these, being the alpha phase. All percentages are by volume.
