In hair clippers of the kind having a cutting head removably mounted on a handle and driven by a motor contained in the handle, the cutting head comprises a base member 51, Fig. 2, aving a plate 51a on which a stationary cutter blade 52 is mounted, an axle 57 on which a movable blade 56 is rockable, and an arm 51b on which are provided studs 53 insertable in sockets in the handle. The arm 51b is formed as a hair collecting box the side walls of which have slots 54 engaged by the edges of a lid 55. In a modification (Fig. 4) the stationary blade (65) is integral with a block (66) having a slot containing a ball bearing (69) on which is positioned an axle (70) having secured to the free ends thereof base arms (71) formed integrally with the movable blade (72). In another modification, Fig. 5, movable blade 86 bears against stationary blade 82 in two areas and has recesses engaged by catches 87 on one arm 88a of a rockable lever 88, the arm 88a having a cam 91 and a protrusion 92. Arm 81b of base member 81 is formed as a box closed by a lid 85. The arms of the rockable lever may be separate (Fig. 7) and spread apart by a spring. In another arrangement (Fig. 8), the movable blade engages the stationary blade only in the area of the teeth.
