A valve for fitting to a gas container, Fig. 1 (not shown), comprises an inlet valve member 12 which is moved to an open position by gas pressure at an inlet 24, or by a probe from a filling attachment, against the action of a spring 25 and an outlet valve 31 which is located within the member 12 and which can be moved to an open position, against the action of a spring 28, by means of an outer stem extending from the member 31. The member 12 has longitudinal grooves in its outer surface through which the gas may flow in the valve open position, and through bores 22 which allow gas to pass to the outlet via grooves in the outer surface of the closure 31.
