Abstract
1344277 Dispensing measured quantities of liquids ZYMA SA 19 April 1971 [21 Jan 1970] 20088/71 Heading B8N A liquid, e.g. soap, dose dispensing valve attachable to a container having a flexible wall and a rigid neck 1 comprises a substantially cylindrical body 2 open at one end and closed at the other end by a wall 3 provided in use with an outlet 4, a partition 9 provided with apertures 12, a valve disc 16, and a disc 17 of a diameter such that an annular gap E exists between the edge of the disc 17 and the internal wall of the body. The valve disc is integral with a rod 15 which extends through, and which carries a stop 15<SP>1</SP>, for the disc 17. The stop 15<SP>1</SP> may be adjustable on the rod. Springs 19, 20 urge the discs to their illustrated positions. The spring 20 may be dispensed with. For operation, closure member 5 is torn off and the container is inverted (as shown). Liquid passes through the annular gap E and fills the space between the disc 17 and the partition 9. Applying pressure to the container wall causes the disc 17 to move downwardly and simultaneously the valve disc 16 is moved away from annular rib 14 to allow the liquid to flow to the outlet. When the disc 17 contacts flange 9<SP>1</SP> of the partition dispensing stops. Upon release of the container wall the discs 16, 17 will return to their illustrated positions, the return of the disc 16 being assisted by or wholly effected by (if spring 20 is dispensed with) the reduced pressure created in the space between the disc 17 and the partition 9. In the alternative embodiment of Fig. 4, the partition 26 has, extending from its periphery, a skirt 26<SP>1</SP> which terminates in a seat 35 for the disc 32. When the disc 32 is in its inoperative position the space 33 is not in communication with the liquid in the container.
