Abstract

1,044,607. Valves; pipe connections. EATON YALE & TOWNE, Inc. July 7, 1965 [Nov. 23, 1964], No. 28835/65. Headings F2G and F2V. [Also in Divisions F1 and F4] A dispensing valve for pressurized fluid containers comprises a resiliently flexible valve housing 16 having an inlet 25 and outlet 21. A valve stem 30 carrying a valve member 34 extends through the outlet so as to engage the opposite end of the housing, whereby the valve is resiliently loaded to closed position, and on pushing down the stem the valve is opened. Excess pressure is relieved through a small opening 15 in a cover 45 and thence past the outside of a cylindrical portion 17 of the housing which fits into the cover. As shown, the valve is operated by the outlet button 42 of an aerosol dispenser. Other embodiments are disclosed with reference to Figs. 5 to 11 (not shown). In Fig. 8, the valve and container are incorporated with a propane torch and the valve is opened simply by screwing on the torch 85 which engages a part 86 of the stem, the inlet 77 in this case being in the side of the housing. In Fig. 6 a slit 50a in the side of the housing allows the container to be filled through the valve, the contents being dispensed through a depending tube 41 connected to the tubular stem. In Fig. 7 the stem carries two valve members 34, 57. A stem portion 65 flush with the top of the housing 16 and cover 12 cleans out excess material, e.g. when dispensing food products such as cake frosting, each time the valve is closed. The products are dispensed through a nozzle cap 58 which serves as an actuator. The inlet 51 is in the side of the housing. The valve member 57 seals any products in the outlet chamber 61 from exposure to the atmosphere.
