Abstract

1,159,747. Dispensing liquids by gaseous pressure. FLUID CHEMICAL CO. Inc. Oct.26, 1967 [Aug.24, 1967], No.48756/67. Heading FIR. A device for accurately controlling the discharge of a pressurized aerosol dispensing container, comprises a housing 12 for the container 10 with a socket 25 receiving the container valve stem 11, an outlet passage 13 for the container contents, and a rotatable actuating member 16 engaging the bottom of container 10 and formed with a cam groove 17 engaged by key members 18 in the housing, so that rotation of member 16 produces axial movement of container 10 and controlled opening of its discharge valve. Key members 18 are formed on a split ring 19 force-fitted in the housing, Fig. 2 (not shown). Member 16 is knurled at 24 for finger engagement. Cam groove 17 has axial entrance slots, Fig. 5 (not shown), for key members 18 to enter groove 17 when member 16 is fitted to the housing. Passages 27 vent the housing interior. The housing exterior 28 may be shaped for reception in the nasal passages when the device is used for inhalant.
