Abstract

1,241,194. Valves. SAMUEL TAYLOR PTY. Ltd. 28 Oct., 1968 [6 Nov., 1967], No. 51010/68. Heading F2V. [Also in Division F1] A dispensing valve assembly for a pressurized aerosol dispensing container comprises a valve stem 27 with a flange 28 biased into sealing contact with a gasket 19, tilting or depressing movement of the valve stem acting to unseat flange rim 29 from gasket 19 to permit discharge via metering hole 30 and groove 32 in flange 28, and valve stem bore 26, a gasket 35 sealing groove 32 from the valve housing interior. A second metering hole may be provided by a constriction in valve stem bore 26, Fig. 5 (not shown). Groove 32 is disposed tangentially to the opening of bore 26 to produce a whirling motion, Fig. 2 (not shown). In Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown), biasing spring 38 is replaced by a resilient, truncated cone-shaped projection depending from gasket retainer 36 and reacting against a dome-shaped projection on the bottom wall of the valve housing, star-shaped slots being provided in the bottom of the resilient projection to facilitate its deformation. The valve stem and flange are formed in one piece, e.g. by moulding or die-casting plastics.
