Abstract

939,381. Delivering measured quantities of liquid. DOLE VALVE CO. June 19, 1962, No. 23575/62. Class 106 (5). [Also in Group XXIX] A liquid dispensing device comprises a valve body 12 having an outlet chamber 15 communicating through a measuring chamber 14 with an inlet opening 33, an inlet valve closure member 31 co-operating with the inlet opening for controlling flow therethrough from a container 10, an outlet valve closure member 18 co-operating with an outlet opening 34 leading from the chamber 15, the inlet valve being of resilient material so as to be deformed on closure of the inlet opening to allow the closure member 18 to open the outlet 34. The valves 31 and 18 are mounted on the armature 25 of a solenoid 26, the armature being loaded by a spring 37 so as to normally maintain the inlet valve 31 open and the outlet valve 18 closed as shown. In operation, the head of liquid in the container 10 normally maintains the measuring chamber filled and, upon energization of the solenoid, the armature is retracted so that the inlet valve 31 first closes the inlet opening 33 and then deforms to a position that permits the valve 18 to uncover the outlet 34 and thereby dispense the liquid.
