Abstract

1,047,151. Textile treating apparatus. ERBA MASCHINENBAU A.G. Jan. 7, 1964 [Jan. 9, 1963], No. 639/64. Heading D1L. In treating thread the thread is laid in the form of rings or loops on to an endless air permeable conveyer band to form thereon a thread material carpet consisting of continuous thread loops in staggered and overlapped relationship and the carpet of loops is turned upside down by changing the direction of movement thereof in order to permit easy draw off of the thread from the said band. In the embodiment shown thread material 12 is withdrawn from cops 11 and laid in overlapping thread rings or loops by coilers 9 on to a conveyer band 3. The latter conveys the material through steam chamber 2 in the form of a thread carpet 12a. Immediately on leaving the chamber 2 carpet 12a is turned through 180 degrees by means of carding roll 13a. The threads are then drawn off via rollers 14, 15 and wound up in cake form at 16. In a second embodiment the carpet of thread is formed on an auxiliary conveyer and turned through 180 degrees on to the conveyer passing into the treating chamber. In a further embodiment a second conveyer is arranged beneath the first in the treating chamber so that the carpet of material is turned through 180 degrees in passing from the first conveyer on to the second.
