Abstract

730,485. Coiling yarns, threads, &c. SOC. RHODIACETA. Sept. 29, 1952 [Dec. 13, 1951], No. 24348/52. Class 120(3). In coiling filaments, yarns, threads, tows, fibrous webs, and like continuous textile materials into a container, the material 1 or 9 is passed over cylinders 2 and 3 or 10 and 11, the peripheral speeds of which may differ to stretch the material, and then falls freely into a can 4 or 12 which is rotated at a uniform slow speed e.g. 5 r.p.m., the distribution of the material being effected by displacement of the vertical line of fall in a single vertical plane as by oscillation of the cylinders 3, 11, between two points, in a straight line, Fig. 1, or round the arc of a circle, Fig. 3. The cylinders 3, 11, exemplify a " substantially cylindrical element" which may be a smooth, fluted, embossed or grooved cylinder or have a form similar thereto e.g. a wide-angled prism, squirrel cage, or hyperboloid of revolution.
