Abstract

1,045,890. Transformers. LICENTIA PATENT-VERWALTUNGS-G.m.b.H. Aug. 15, 1963 [Aug. 24, 1962], No. 32299/63. Heading H1T. The high-tension lead 65 (Fig. 5) of a cylindrical type transformer winding is connected to the innermost (double) winding layer 66, 67 and is surrounded by barriers of solid insulating material 74, 75 and 81, 82 separated by channels for the flow of coolant. The insulating barriers may be partly interfitted with the main winding insulating cylinders 68, 69, 78, 79 as shown in Fig. 5 and intermediate barriers 76, 77, 80, 83 may be provided. Coolant passages such as 101, 102 are provided. The barriers may be of U- shaped press board and may be joined by side pieces to form a number of concentric box-like enclosures of the H.T. lead (Fig. 6, not shown). The lead 5 may be bent to a horizontal direction after it has left the winding in which case a second box-like insulation arrangement enclosing the horizontal part of the lead is interfitted with the similar vertical box-like insulation enclosing the vertical part of the lead leaving the winding but is not provided with coolant spaces. Securing insulating taping may be provided as at 99 and 100. Liquid or gaseous coolant such as oil, clophen, air or sulphur hexofluoride may be used.
