Abstract
948,608. Transformers. LICENTIA PATENT - VERWALTUNGS - G.m.b.H. Sept. 14, 1962 [Sept. 26, 1961], No. 35132/62. Heading H1T. A layer winding arrangement for a transformer provides cooling by having the layer windings so arranged and interconnected that lightly electrically stressed interlayer spaces, which can incorporate cooling channels, alternate in a definite relationship with highly stressed interlayer spaces which accommodate an (appropriately thicker) insulation layer. Layer winding interconnections may be alternately between adjacent and opposite ends of adjacent layers (Fig. 3). Maximum voltage stress in the interlayer space may be reduced by dividing some or all of the layer windings into two or more portions and connecting opposite ends of adjacent layer portions as in Fig. 4 (or Figs. 5, 6, 7 and 11-14, not shown). The connections between opposite ends of adjacent layer windings may be made externally or this may be wholly or partly avoided by connecting adjacent ends of certain adjacent winding layers and/or parts thereof, Fig. 8 (Figs. 9-12, not shown).
