Abstract

1,115,025. Transformers. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 6 Sept., 1965 [4 Dec., 1964], No. 49430/64. Heading H1T. A 3-phase transformer has the turns or layers of its high voltage windings 7 spaced apart axially by axially aligned rows of insulating spacing blocks 17 provided with complementary projections 35 and recesses 37. Each end of each row is provided with a group of interlocked stacked spacing blocks separating the end turns or layers from angle irons 9A, 11A clamping the core. The blocks separating the turns or layers may also be interlocked or they may be held against lateral movement by an insulating strip 39 extending through aligned slots (33, Fig. 4) in the blocks of each row. Stacked blocks may also separate each end of the low voltage windings 5 from the angle irons.
