Abstract
1,232,614. Transformer arrangements. MIDLAND TRANSFORMER Ltd. 7 Jan., 1970 [12 Oct., 1968], No. 48468/68. Heading H2H. An alternating current voltage regulating assembly comprises a regulating coil 10, first and second magnetically coupled windings 13, 14 having equal numbers of turns, first and second contacts 18, 22 movable along the coil in electrical engagement therewith, the first and second contacts 18, 22 being connected with an end of the windings 13, 14 respectively, the other end of the windings 13, 14 being connected with the ends 15, 20 respectively of the coil 10, means being provided to move the contacts 18, 22 simultaneously in opposite directions along the coil 10 so as to vary the voltages applied to the windings 18, 22, which voltages are maintained equal in magnitude and phase, the output voltage of the assembly being taken across the winding 14. A load connected between terminals 23, 24 may be resistive or the primary winding of a transformer supplied from an A.C. source.
