Abstract

1,044,746. Printing-surfaces. EASTMAN KODAK CO. Aug. 4, 1964 [July 31, 1963], No. 31428/64. Heading B6C. A lithographic printing plate comprising an image layer containing a hydrophilic colloid or gelatin and having tanned oleophilic areas, is treated, on selected oleophilic areas corresponding to images which are to be deleted, with an aqueous solution containing ferricyanide or ferrocyanide ions, to render such selected areas hydrophilic. The deletion fluid is preferably in the form of salts of alkali metals, and may also include a thickening agent such as gelatin, hydroxyethyl cellulose, carboxymethyl cellulose, starch or guar gum.
