Abstract

1,043,620. Devices for lifting bales from the ground. C. J. STEKETEE. Aug. 4, 1964 [Aug. 2, 1963: Jan. 17, 1964], No. 31036/64. Headings B8A and B8E. Bales are gathered from the ground and elevated and deposited on trailer 25 pulled by a tractor, not shown, by means of an endless chain conveyer 7 carried by frame 1 pivoted to the trailer at 5. The conveyer is driven by wheels 15 carried by said frame 1, the wheels engaging the ground and its movement being transmitted to the conveyer by sprocket 16 made rigid with the wheels. In order that the device may not operate when the tractor and trailer are in process of cornering, the frame 1 is connected by a rope 22 and by individual ropes 27 to wheels 29 so that as the corner is turned the wheels pivot and this movement causes a shortening of rope 22 so that the frame 1 is lifted upwards to disengage the wheel 15 from the ground.
