Abstract

[Class 78 (i)] [Also in Group I] A device for lifting sheaves from the ground and delivering them to a conveyer that discharges in a farm cart or the like comprises a horse or tractor propelled frame fitted with a drum 1 adapted to be rotated in the reverse direction to that of the tractor wheels and having mounted therein tines 9 which engage the sheaves on the ground and lift them on to bars 17 extending transversely between endless chains 16. The drum rotates on a stationary axle 2 and is provided with apertures for the tines 9 which are pivoted to rotatable collars 8 spaced apart on a cranked portion of the axle 2. The tines are guided by members 10 secured to brackets 11 hinged on the inner surface of the drum 1. The conveyer is constituted by spaced transverse bars extending between spaced chains that pass over sprockets carried by the drum.
